Living the Question (LQ2) - "Living the Questions 2" (LQ2) is a program for congregations, with small groups utilizing scripture,
tradition, progressive theology and our own experiences for thought-provoking and faith-shaping discussion and action. Each session includes a DVD-based
teaching section from contemporary leading theologians and religious leaders, group discussion, and faith reflection. Our vision is that we will grow stronger
in our faith as individuals and as a community, stronger in our bonds with one another, and begin to shape the new future God is placing before us.
The Book of Acts - 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 10 AM.
Thursday Morning Bible Study - classes will resume in September.
Young Adult Group - meets Monday at 8:00 PM at Bobby G's Pizzeria on University near Shattuck. Come join us in reading "Meeting Jesus Again for the
First Time" by Marcus Borg. Contact the church office for more details.
Children and Youth
Church school for children ages 3-11 is offered during the worship hour. An inclusive, joyful, Bible-based curriculum inspires the kids for reflection, fun and service.
Children are encouraged to express their full selves as they explore and grow in Christian faith together.
The BAM501 (Bible, Activities and Methodism) The Trinity Youth Group meets every Sunday at 5:30PM until 7:30PM in the youth
room, downstairs in Trinity Hall. We play games, have group discussion and devotion, draw from the creative arts, and have dinner
together. Our community is diverse and meaningful, providing a space and time apart from the rest of the week. Any
young person ages 11 and up are welcome and invited to join us.
Habitat for Humanity
Trinity Church volunteers with East Bay Habitat for Humanity. As part of our service commitment, Trinity
Church has a tradition of participating in Habitat for Humanity. On various workdays throughout the year, members
of our congregation spend time building homes for low income families. This past year we built foundations, put
up walls and installed siding in the East Oakland Edes Street project. Although participants are not required
to have building or construction experience, several of our church members are architects and engineers and really
help to move the project along. Several of our youth have construction experience gained from the Sierra Service
Project and bring their skills to the Habitat jobsite. Participating in Habitat is a great way to share God's gifts
through "hands on" service. More information can be found at www.habitateb.org

Just What Is "Eco-Justice"?
Do you know the difference between environmental justice and eco-justice? Are they just catch-phrases that describe the same thing? Or are
they different? And what does it mean for the community of faith to engage in either or both? Beginning this summer, the building committee
with be hosting a series of congregational conversations about eco-justice and the vision of focusing our community toward this theological
perspective in a richer and fuller way. Two congregational conversations are scheduled for after worship on July 6 and July 27. We'll talk about the differences between
environmental justice and eco-justice, what it means for our church, and for our stewardship as citizens of God's realm.
Sierra Service Project
Sierra Service Project this year will be July 20 to July 26, 2008!
Sierra Service Project will lead the worship service on July 27, 2008
For nearly 15 years the youth of Trinity Church have been strengthening
their spirits through participating in the Sierra Service Project repairing homes in Native American communities.
Sierra Service Project (SSP) is a non-profit organization providing life-changing experiences through acts of service repairing homes in
Native American and urban communities and building homes in Honduras.
SSP believes that young people develop a strong and deep understanding of God's gifts and God's grace through the direct experience of
being in service to others.
The Trinity youth group participates with other church youth groups from all over the western states travel to one of the summer sites
for an unforgettable week of serving, learning, worship and fellowship! Youth from United Methodist, Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian
and United Church of Christ churches are all a part of SSP's mission work. SSP is open to all churches. SSP is affiliated with the
United Methodist Church.
To support the yearly trip, the youth and members of the congregation are involved in major fundraising events like a church community
breakfast and a church bazaar. Our Church loves this project because of the way it empowers our youth to do mighty acts.
While living in the Bay Area allows youth to experience many cultures and interests, rarely are youth able to have direct impact on
the lives of others. When our youth return from a week at SSP they are renewed and invigorated by what they have done for others.

Other Opportunities
Quilters - The Trinity quilt group makes quilts for newlyweds and babies born into our church (we make twin bed sized baby quilts
so they'll be surrounded by our love throughout their childhood and take it to college with them). We're delighted with the baby boom
we're having - but it means lots more quilts, so please join us!
The group meets every Monday from 10-12 in the Fireside Room (those of us who work fulltime can come on holiday Mondays). Sewing skill
or quilting experience is not required, we'll teach you! Contact the church office or Yulan Tong for more information.
