Lead Pastor Mark Cordes has driven trucks and nails, cut wood and carrots, made dinners for 100 and appetizers for 2, cooked hot breakfast for 2, 4, 6, 8, and 25, prepared taxes and meetings. He reads a book a week, observes silence as often as he can, wishes he could exercise more and eat less, dreams of surfing a big wave and teaching his son to swim, and hopes for a better and more reverent world.
Xan West enjoys inspiring resilience, preaching liberation, playing with her two dogs, and eating caramel sauce. She holds a certificate in Spirituality and Social Change from the Pacific School of Religion. Xan has over 20 years in social justice and movement work and is a proud Oakland native. Xan is on family leave through February 2018.
Rachel Beck started attending Trinity in 2007 and became the administrative assistant in 2016. When not at work, she writes, sings, hikes, cooks dinner for her housemates, and nerds out about theology or literature.
Music director Terry Alvord was seen earlier this year as guest conductor of the Oakland City chorus and, for the second time, she was a featured conductor in a concert of sacred music in Sarteano, Italy.
She has been a rehearsal conductor for the San Francisco Symphony Chorus and has conducted the San Francisco Conservatory’s chamber vocal ensemble. She has also been one of four assistant conductors for the San Francisco Symphony’s Community of Music Makers' “Sing Out Davis” program since its inception in 2011. Ms. Alvord recently finished a one-year term as interim artistic director for Resound Ensemble, a mixed-voice choir based in San Francisco.
Ms. Alvord is an active soloist and choral singer who has appeared as soloist in James MacMillan’s “Seven Last Words from the Cross” with the Berkeley Symphony and with other groups in performances of Handel’s “Messiah,” Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” Haydn’s “Lord Nelson Mass,” Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasie,” and Bach’s “Magnificat.” Ms. Alvord has sung with many of the Bay Area opera companies and has been a professional member of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus since 2000. Additionally, she has sung with San Francisco Opera Chorus and Philharmonia Baroque Chorale.
Michael Dolman is our pianist. He also plays for UC Berkeley Dance, Berkeley Ballet Theatre, and Lines Ballet. He earned his BME from the Kansas City Conservatory of Music, and his MM from the University of Northern Colorado.
